Pear Tree recovery

My pear tree ever year has got worse and worse and now only partially keeps its leaves on  the left.  Should I just cut away the right hand side? This was taken in October but the leaves fall off before that - even in summer - any help or thoughts would be really appreciated

  • Pear Scab?  So how to I solve - do I have to just chop the whole tree on the right hand side  down
  • It fruits really well on the left but not at all on the right hand side. The leaves come but fall off early.the fruit the does appear is really good though - no marks.
  • We had the same problem with one of our quince trees for some years. So it was pollarded right back to the main trunk. Yes we didn't have any fruit for a couple of years but the new growth was strong and no sign of scab. This year it produced some good size fruits.
  • Ok I think I’m going to take it right back to the trunk on the right and be brav’ish in the left😂 any advice welcome on approach but going to do this in February so fingers crossed
