Make sure it's moist enough for digging out and then get as good a rootball as possible. Have the new hole dug first if you can, and then just make sure it's well firmed in. You can add a little extra compost if you want, but it isn't really necessary if the ground is decent already. A slow release food can be sprinkled in too. A mulch can be added as well afterwards, but again - not absolutely necessary. Water in and then just keep an eye on it. If the ground settles a bit, you can add a bit of extra compost/soil to make sure roots aren't exposed.
Ideally, you'd wait until after flowering, so that you can enjoy the flowers, and that's fine if you can ensure it doesn't get dried out after shifting. It'll depend whereabouts you are and what your climate is like.  :)

You could move it just now if the ground isn't frozen [snow isn't a problem as long as the ground is fine below] but the flowers may not do well. If you can wait until autumn, that would be more suitable for establishment if you're in a drier area.

    Hi!
@Fairygirl has given sound advice (as usual).
@bjf824-NB4k45v I'm afraid you have mixed up "user name", "discussion title" and maybe even your user code in your message. ;)

I think it's the system for starting threads @Papi Jo - especially as a new user to the forum.
I looked at it before and reckoned it wasn't very clear.  :/

  • As long as the answer from fairygirl is for my query, perhaps some further explanation for my future use might be useful!

Yes - don't worry too much . The way to start threads can sometimes be a bit odd with the way the form is worded. Just a forum glitch!
You can also change your username but it can sometimes be awkward too :)
