When to buy and plant perennials

    Things that are bare-root or dormant can be planted in winter here as long as it's not frozen or unusually cold, but I have well-drained soil that doesn't get waterlogged. If they have an unseasonal amount of growth and have obviously been protected then they need acclimatising. And if I had a wetter garden I'd probably not plant while the soil was soggy.
