Rat hole in my Avery

I found this hole this morning! Obviously it’s a rat hole, will it kill my quail?!!

    I lifted the log.....This is under the centre of the stump, the banks on either side of the path are mainly wood pulp from the underside of the log/stump (it’s a close up)

    I know they can kill littler birds, budgies and finches etc, raid nests for eggs, kill chicks and hens.
    I don't know about quail are they quite small? But I would say take no chances.

    I do not keep little birds but have known people who have or had.
    If you can then redoing the floor with wire mesh deep under the soil/floor and making sure it goes up to or past the wire in frame with no gaps, will go a fair way to help stop them. Good Luck.

    My Dad kept canaries and quail,and yes they will attack and eat quail if they are hungry.
    A good quality mesh under floor as others have suggested.

    Ok thank you guys, I even have some mesh flooring left over in the garage.....off I go....
