Calathea Medallion infection
Hi All
Im just new to collecting plants. I have a Calathea Medallion i recently bought around 4 weeks ago. I have been using filtered water, located in a east facing window aout 2m from a window. Its mostly cloudy so plenty of defused light and don't tend to get sun rays coming through.
Ive got some bug/mite on some leaves, not all of them, maybe 5. Is it spider mites?
Ive also got some rusting happening, any idea what and why this is? Ive only watered it twice since i've got it as its winter and just been monitoring the moisture levels in the soil. Should I might look at getting better draining soil? It needs to be re-potted too as theres some roots around the bottom of the nursery pot. Should i do this now or wait?
Im in Edinburgh, Scotland and its winter here. Been having snow and temps have been dropping and staying around ealy digits. Humidity is around 50-60% and i open the windows for 1-2hrs most days to get rid of any stagnant air. I have a humidifier and ive used it couple times but stopped as it hasn't dropped low even when central heating is on. Heating is on from 5-9pm everyday.
Can anyone give some advice, insights on what is going on? Should i get some Neem Oil? Do i need to put the plant closer to the window? I live in in the older apartment stone tenant blocks with high ceilings and tall big windows.
