HOW TO STOP CAT SPRAYING IN GARDEN

How can I stop cats spraying and pooing in my garden?
Are there any plants and or scents that be sprayed without harming plants? I heard that citrus peels or lavender plants.

I cut spiky branches off a rose and laid them criss-cross over the vegetable bed last year and that seemed to help.
  • Sounds interesting. Might give that a try. Thanks Mander.

My friend has 7. She has no cats.....
  • I have cats and to deter them from recently dug or newly planted areas, I cut sprigs of Holly to stop them using that area, I find this makes a difference.
  • Thanks ali.mclean. I will try that or similar.

If you want to protect a veg bed, say, when you've just prepared it or sown seeds in it, a piece of stiff netting (like plastic clematis net) laid across the area will stop cats using it as a loo.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
