Disappeared snowdrops

  • I planted mine in a North facing corner of a stone wall, underneath an acer. I am going to check my bank statement to see who I bought them from. I cannot remember their name off the top of my head.
I have about 4 bulbs that come up and flower each year, growing in a small bed under the kitchen window. It is always very damp and there is a Fuschia growing in the bed.
  • Have just looked at the pic. above. My snowdrops did not look as healthy as those! The  stems were quite spindly and straight into the root ball, with no bulbous growth at all. Which is why I phoned the company, to query what they had supplied me with. I suppose if they are still alive I might get some bulbs in a few years time. I was given a clump of lovely bulbs, in the green, several years ago, which I planted under the kitchen window knowing they liked to be damp but now only have the afore said 4 remaining bulbs.
I am going to get "my dander up" and start complaining.

It's a great pity that you didn't take a photograph of them Joyce Goldenlily, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though.

  • The company I sed is Gee Tee Bulb Company, Spalding. Their reviews looked OK.
I have emailed them this morning so await a response.
I checked my garden again yesterday and not a sign of a leaf, let alone a flower.

They're normally pretty good @Joyce Goldenlily, so that's very disappointing.
Hopefully you'll get a suitable response - and solution.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

They are usually great. I hope they salute.
  • I have been in touch with Gee Tee Bulbs and they have offered to replace the snowdrop bulbs or give me a refund with no argument, which is good. I have opted for a refund.
Still no sign of a single leaf or flower.

Good result @Joyce Goldenlily - if a little frustrating for you  :/

Perhaps you can pick up some in GCs or similar, or you could try Nyssens for in the green ones. At least you'd have some more to enjoy  :)

    Excellent Joyce Goldenlily.

  • I will have a look at Nyssens and see what they have to offer. There is a garden in Truro which has a snowdrop garden which they used to open to the public each year for the snowdrop display but they haven't opened the last couple of years. Always a good place for "in the green" bulbs.
