Grazeon

I just found out graze on is a new herbicide being used in the US on grass land that cattle and horses eat. The herbicide comes through and into the manure and can kill everything in the garden if you use the manure!!!  Why does the u.s. approve such crap!

  • Although it is readily available in the UK - with amateurs able to circumvent the spraying licence requirements by buying online - I have heard from a professional that it is so toxic you should wear breathing apparatus to apply it. Inhalation can seriously affect lung function.

How can you make sure the manure you buy doesn't have it in it?  I read it can last over a year in composted manure.

You can't unless you personally know an organic farmer who never puts any chemicals on his land whether for pasture or crops and who then supplies safe manure and/or compost.

In recent years we have had, over this side of the water, problems with manures and composts containing aminopyralid which was authorised for use on pasture land but without anyone thinking what the consequences would be from it being ingested by animals and then excreted in manure or else being residual in any material composted from that pasture.

It cause dreadful problems especially for allotmenteers whose associations were in the habit of having bulk delivery from farmers and it made its way into some composts and soil improvers on sale in GCs too.

Doesn't anyone do any research before bringing out new products? Shouldn't it be mandatory?

Profits first, especially big business like Monsanto, Bayer, cigarette manufacturers, washing machines and dryers and fridges that catch fire and urn down apartment blocks...........
