please help my Calamondin

I've had my calamondin three years. lovely fruit the first two years, nothing this year and it has slowly lost leaves. Been fed regularly, kept in an orangery not near any radiators. We let it dry out between watering.
Today we took it out of the pot, dry but not totally dried out, I put an inch of water into the bowl and it soaked it up in five minutes.
Any advice please.

I forgot we had fungus gnats which we treated with nemitodes and sticky paper which appeared to get rid of them.
  • Is it too pot bound? The water maynot be getting into the roots.
Try teasing away the old compost and repot with some fresh compost.
Over feeding can also result in plants dying back.

I don't think it's pot bound, if it were the roots would be more visable and wrapped around ?
as you can see in the picture not many roots are visable.
I'm not an expert but thought this meant it wasn't pot bound?
