Securing a window display

I don't have a front garden, and I'd like to install some sort of window display in front of the upstairs window. But because of the lack of front garden I need to make sure it's safe and can't fall onto the pavement. I saw a suggestion in a book to put a bar across the window and then putting pots or a trough on the sill, which I think would be safer than a standard window box on the wall, and it would also allow me to swap the pots round to keep things in season. However, I can't find a suitable bar anywhere - the only options seem to be brackets for holding a window box in front of the house.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to attach something, and ideally where I can buy it? I'm fine with drilling into the brick wall, but the window sill is some sort of cement that I've never tried drilling in to. It's not a huge window sill, just about deep enough for a planting trough or medium sized pots.

I’ve seen just what you need ... it’s a lovely wrought iron ‘cage’ around a window and windowsill on a house I go past quite frequently (well, not during lockdown, but ...). I think they were made by a local blacksmith. They're fixed securely to the brickwork and are about half as tall as the window. The upright bars have lovely twists and scrolls and look gorgeous with trailing and climbing pelargoniums clambering through them in the summer. In the winter they look almost as decorative without any plants at all, because the twists and scrolls stop it looking like a ‘security’ measure in front of the windows, although they certainly serve that purpose too.
I hope you find what you’re looking for. 😊

A Google image search for ‘wrought iron window box frame’ will give you lots of leads to chase.
