Hydrangea

Hi

I have deadhead the flowers to the buds. Is it best to leave it now or can I cut it back further. Please advise

    Not the right time of year for pruning them. Spring is the time, and it also depends on the variety you have  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Paniculatas are often pruned back more rigorously, but generally speaking, you can prune back to healthy buds on all types without a problem. They have longer flower heads, as opposed to the lacecap and mophead types, so if you have some photos of the flowers, that will help you. 
    Dead, crossing, and damaged branches can be removed completely, but that's mostly for older, mature shrubs which need rejuvenating and re shaping. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
