Swedes.

In our farming community it has always been accepted that swedes are only successful when grown  in an open field, and much less so in an enclosed garden. I'm finding this so true, as my garden grown ones are rather pathetic, while those in the field are mighty fine. Other growers experiences would be most interesting.

I tried grow them last year and they were very poor. I am going to give it another go this year to see if I can do better but from your experiences, it sounds like they are difficult to get right in the garden.

They are so cheap to buy it might be better to devote your space and energies to veggies which taste better picked fresh or are hard to find in the shops or are expensive.

Always had a good crop in our garden, but it may be bigger than average by some standards.
