Unheated greenhouse

Hi. I have an unheated greenhouse and 2 raised beds. I would like to start a group on Facebook as a resource for cold greenhouse growing. The groups name is Unheated Greenhouse Growing UK. Can anybody point me in the direction of any other sources as there seems to be very little out there. Thank you

I have an unheated greenhouse, I don' sow anything until March which are sown in a unheated propagator then prick out into larger modules, I also use root trainers which I have found very good for peas and beans. You can get away with sowing broad beans early in a unheated greenhouse.

The watering can in my unheated greenhouse has been frozen solid for about two weeks now so not much will grow in there. It's great for keeping the weather off water sensitive plants though.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • I have just asked to join your unheated greenhouse group on FaceBook ... I am further North than you are, as I am on Orkney, but it doesn't generally get really icy here, not like central Scotland. My polycrub (a very solid polytunnel to withstand the wind up here) has only gone below freezing a couple of times and that was before it was totally finished and enclosed.
I would love to sow some seeds ... it's all so new and exciting ... but I am sure they won't germinate yet !

  • I've just sent a request to join the group
  • I'm following on FB. Some GH contents are marvellous. 😁 My GH is in need of repair, several leaking roof panels, but the posts have inspired me to get it fixed before next winter. At the moment I've just got penstemon cuttings in there.

  • I've just joined now, some lovely pictures of the interiors of people's greenhouses!
  • Thanks everybody :)
