Seedling of tree ID

in Plants
Can anyone help me to identify this naturally
grown seedling in the mountain of Japan ?
There are raindrops on the leaves.
I was told that it might be (Japanese) skimmia or pieris.
Any suggestions or help is very
grateful.

Daphne laureola.....to quote wiki....
Its native range covers much of Europe and extends to Algeria, Morocco and the Azores.
Not at all sure that it would be found as a naturally grown seedling in the mountain of Japan !
So sorry, but I am not familiar with the native plants found in the mountains of Japan to say what it might be. Maybe when it gets flowers or berries that would help.
It has the short leaf stem less than 1cm.
Thick and a little shiny leaf.
A little over 30cm tall in the moist and part shade place.
I put up another photo.
I don't think Daphne laureola grows
naturally in Japan.
The mountain is near Kyoto.
It looks like the same tree ?!
In japanese site, I was told that it's
Skimmia.
It would be quite difficult for most forum members to accurately ID that I'm afraid.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
