What is the best way to plant onions and potatoes in California?

I have my own garden and always wanted to try growing these vegetables. I have heard of all different ways to do this. What really is the best?

The best way is probably to live in California.
It’s a hell of a toss to get them in the ground from here.

@greengardenist. It's a largely UK based site. Probably better to seek out a US one - there's a few if you Google.  :)

Of course - if you're only here to advertise something, I'd think again....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Hello Greengardenist. We can offer general advice, but this site is British based and most of us can only speak for our own conditions, which are very different from yours. For the best tips and tricks you really need to find someone more local to you. If you really can't, then we will do our best, but we haven't really started yet this year. It's still winter here, my veg garden is under snow!

Advertising your garden products and services on here is not going to help you much with learning to  grow your own vegetables, @greengardenist ... 🙄

All adverts, ‘product placement’ etc needs to go through GardenersWorld.com ... contact details at the foot of the page.

I see on your website you offer for sale several books with advice on growing vegetables and yet you come on to this forum asking for advice. Clearly, then, you do not trust the books you are selling which suggests your ethical standards are low. Be gone.
