I've got a cheapo light one and a heavy one. I'm convinced both of them bend in the middle. I have to even off the wedge every now and then and hide it in the crow food tub otherwise I get it in the neck.
I made it so I can cut it however I like doesn't wash anymore

I used to have a friend with a bacon slicer, now I just live with whatever shape I can mange.  Children won't let me near anything with blades as sharp as the slicer connected to the National Grid as I have a history with power tools.

Annoyingly it is easier to cut stale bread than fresh. I mostly make buns these days unless I need a loaf to hold some soup.

My mum uses an electric meat carver. It scares the BJs out of me😳

  • I find the trick with a bread knife it to let the serrated edge do the work , don't press down too hard especially on very fresh bread

When using a saw I was told to put my index finger along the side of the blade, not round the handle, and it certainly helped in keeping the line straight.  Maybe try the same with the bread knife - index finger along the top of the blade.

Wedge shaped if I was to use a knife but perfect slices with the electric carver with the bread blade.
I buy Tesco crusty loaf, baked on premises but since the COVID they will only bring that out sliced after lunch and evening deliveries, they don’t have time to cook it and slice before driver goes off in the mornings,  this week, uncut crusty delivered in the afternoon,  not that I mind, I’m grateful for anything they bring me, I wouldn’t be shopping otherwise.
All sliced and put in the freezer, thank goodness for the eliectric knife.

    Will try the finger thing.
I've tried lining the knife up with the edge of the chopping board. Maybe that's crooked too🤔
I can't even be in the same room as an electric carver when it's in use so that's not an option 😧.

I just ordered a book online and received a confirmation email saying it will be delivered in March. I was very annoyed until I realised March is on Monday. Now I'm more worried that two months of this year have already passed without me really noticing. Lockdown black hole sucking time away from us.
