grasses

Dear All
I have a newish garden after a move.
In one corner i have this gras which i am not sure if it did self seed or was planted? I don’t mind it - but don’t want it to spread further. Also do i need to cut back or just leave it alone?
Thanks

Your 'grassy' looking plant is most likely Carex Pendula. Generally, they don't need much maintenance. As you can see, they don't die down in the winter cold. They can be a nuisance and self seed when happy. I would try to dig it all up and get rid, otherwise it will take over again. The area you have there looks quite small. Not really suitable.

It may well have come from bird feeders.  No redeeming features as far as I'm concerned - there are better behaved grasses with more interesting foliage and/or better flower and seed heads so I would hoik it out, refresh the soil and plant something attractive.
