Back to Beechgrove

Interesting to see how the Beechgrove garden fared when untouched for seven months. I assume it was due to travel restrictions in Scotland meaning no one lived near enough to get there to maintain it? It shows how quickly things can get out of hand!

  • Yes it just shows that you don't have a garden if there is no gardener.  We see a similar situation on the Allotments. Sadly people are often reluctant to give up a plot even when they can't really manage any more.  We had this happen this year, with a plot next to mine in spite of offers to help clear it my old neighbor insisted he didn't want help, but had to give up this autumn.  Having been immaculately kept for years it was completely overgrown,  it took a team of 3 a solid week to clean it up.

A fascinating,if sad, watch. It's interesting to see the way things evolved over the past 7 months.

It would be interesting to see whether any perennial weeds have invaded, or whether the jungle is mainly overgrown and self sown veg plants etc.
