Fungus ID

Not really a plant, but I wasn't sure which category it best fitted into otherwise.

I've just discovered some fungus growing on dead wood that had been used to make a wildlife habitat. The wood was salvaged from a neighbour and I think is made up of old Christmas tree and buddleia.

My best guess is Jelly Ear, with Lacquered Bracket coming in as second guess, but I find fungi really tricky to ID.

What do you guys think?

I think jelly ears is a good guess, also known as tree ears, wood ears and a translation of its latin name which I imagine will fall out of use for understandable reasons.
  • Good to know that you think I am on the right track, @steephill, thank you. I didn't know the other names, always good to learn something!

They use Judas as the translation here which is both more correct and more acceptable.
