neem oil

By reading about plant care and pest control I have come across neem oil quite a lot. I'm wondering what other peoples opinion is with neem oil, does it work to control pests? what else does it do? what brand/make have you used and recommend? does it harm lady birds as I was planning to introduce them to my garden/greenhouse this year.

@michelled932  I have.  Watered down - about 10 drops in a litre of water.  I bought Neem whilst in India last year in oil form.  Great (pure) as an effective disinfectant on cuts and scratches - good on scars post op - rather smelly.  I had those shield bugs running over my young cabbages in Sept/Oct and tried Neem - I don't think it was very effective!  There is lots of info on internet.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.
