Yukka help

Hi all,

I'm concerned about my yukka which was a gift from my mom. Last week the new lower shoot growth started to yellow and die and this week the established leaves are yellowing and starting to drop. When the new shoots started dying I moved to a brighter location in a window incase lack of light was an issue, but it hasn't helped. I've always been very careful with watering and have never overwatered.

What might be happening?

Thank you in advance!

  • Hi @philippasmith2

Thank you for getting back to me. Re: soil, it'll be whatever it came in as I haven't repotted it (only received the gift about 6 months ago).

Yes, it's in a plastic drainage pot within that pot and if any water did seep out following watering that was tipped out so as to not let the plant sit in it.

I've just checked the roots (pictured). Unsure if these are healthy or not as I'm a beginner.

    Thank you for your help
  • Whoops, forgot to add picture
  • Could it be fluctuating temperature? As we move into central heating times rooms get cold at night, then warm up and then get cold.
    Any draughts can affect houseplants.
Having tipped out any surplus water in the main pot should prevent over watering but yellowing of leaves here could be too much water. Water sparingly in the winter months.
