mrmhf  If I've found your website, you're definitely 'rural'.  If you have the said 12-bore, if you see one heaving a new mound, go and stand over it, legs astride the mound, with the gun pointing directly down at it.  The sound of your approach will scare the mole away, but only for 10-15 minutes so, if you remain stock still, it will resume its activity, at which point you pull the trigger.  If you're interested in being humane, the animal will never know what hit it and you just dig the corpse out.

Try anything, but shooting them can be a permanent solution if you're in an area where discharging a 12-bore will be legal?
reminds me of a Jasper Carrott sketch many years ago.

Just another day at the plant...
  • Moles do not like noise or vibration so I have put empty plastic bottles onto bamboo canes and pushed them into the ground around the perimeter of my garden which seems to work well. Haven't had a mole for several years now.
