Seems to be blackfly on my tree in winter!?

    I had greenfly until around a week ago, when the frosts arrived. Strange, since I don’t normally have much of a problem with them and there were virtually none in the summer.
    Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
  • Aphids come in a variety of colours as well as green and black. If there are not many and you are not squeamish, just squidge them off between your index finger and thumb. Don't wait for frost or birds. They cause devastating damage to young buds. 
    Everyone likes butterflies. Nobody likes caterpillars.
