Please recommend good books about Carnivorous plants and succulents.

My husband built a greenhouse during Lockdown 1 and has filled it with all sorts of interesting plants. Are there any good books out there that would help him to look after them? many thanks

Well done on a good idea for getting through lockdown.  I don't know of any books, but we have been keeping carnivorous plants for about 15 years, and there will be many others on the forum who also keep them.  This is a great place to ask any questions.

The two specialist carnivorous nurseries that we have bought from are www.hantsflytrap.com and www.littleshopofhorrors.co.uk, although there are others.  Their websites are a great resource, with information guides for each species, and they also sell books.  As specialists, they are probably your best starting point.  If you buy plants from them, I'm sure they would also be happy to give you continued advice about how best to look after them.
  • Thanks for very useful advice.
  • We also have been growing carnivorous for many years.
We purchased a book written by the grower (who died some years ago) in the 1980s when he had the nursey Marston Exotics.
It is a very informative book but not sure if you can still buy it or maybe you could request through your library service.
Carnivorous Plants by Adrian Slack ISBN 0852231601.
They are fascinating plants and very easy to divide and pass onto other like minded people of keep multiples for yourselves.
    Enjoy.

  • Thank you for help.

@wild edges grows a lot of succulents, so if he sees my 'tag' he might be able to offer further info too  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Hello @Sue Partridge,

I also grow carnivorous plants and have found 'The Savage Garden' by Peter D'Amato really useful.
