Vouchers or cash?

  • Give me a voucher please
I preferred the paper vouchers with different values, you felt as though you were spending cash. I found some in a keepsake box that we’d been given as a wedding gift, this was some years later they’d been discovered. The store still honoured the value, we were extremely fortunate.

Very fortunate indeed.  WH Smith etc didn't have any expiry date on their vouchers in the 'olden days' but they have had for quite a few years.  I found that out when I discovered some in a drawer.  Nothing on the voucher itself, but they refused to accept them saying all the t&c are on the accompanying card.  Shops must make millions from vouchers which have been purchased but not used.  The law does need to be changed to prevent expiry dates being applied.
