Are the garden nigella seeds the same as the culinary ones?

Thanks @pansyface. I might save some next year. I like to sprinkle a few on my bread before I bake it.

They're gone I hope! The new sugar is in isolation in another cupboard in case I didn't get them all😕
I can still see it moving. Thanks for reminding me.

I think the culinary ones are from nigella sativa, as opposed to nigella damascena. I’m not sure what the exact difference is in terms of taste, edibility...

I'm using Sainsbury's finest at the moment so there will be toast tomorrow😋
@pitter-patter. Perhaps further investigation is necessary.
I'm off to find what plants star anise and cumin come from now. Something to do. Getting stir crazy😵

  • So according to this, they taste different, damascena has marginally superior health benefits, and sativa will make you run to the bathroom more. Neither killed any rats.

I trust this was of no help at all  :D

Satvia might have made them a little uncomfortable, though.

Just had a glance at the link and if I live to be 110, life will be too short. But I'm most grateful for your efforts😉 @strelitzia32
