mine thrive on neglect. They are cut back in Spring, then left . No feeding, no deadheading.

@susieblue-1 - yours will have been establishing itself this year which often means no flowers. When you buy a plant that's been pot grown, it's slightly 'forced' and will therefore flower. These plants are grown on from cuttings, often for along time, and are fed etc, so they're in an environment which suits them, for a long time. Once you remove them from that - ie planting out, it takes a little while for them to get going in their new conditions. It's often called transplant shock.
Hopefully - it'll be fine by next year  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Penstemon 'Garnet' (syn. 'Andenken an Friedrich Hahn')
    Devon.
  • Thank you @Hostafan1 … I wondered if that was the one.  It would work with my sunny bed colourscheme don’t you agree @WonkyWomble ?  But I think it might be too dry for it in our freedraining sandy loam.  … I keep adding manure and soil conditioned and garden compost but still many if the more ‘leafy’ perennials flop at the first bit of summer sun   🤔
