    Interesting, @pitter-patter, I wondered if it was just my climate the shrubby salvias liked too much, but obviously not! The spire types don’t spread that way and are safer. I think I prefer the contrasting form of the upright spires of the Nemorosa types with the globular blooms of the roses anyhow.
