Tree paint for newly-pruned Japanese acer?
Don't think harshly of me, but I have just chopped my lovely Japanese acer back really hard -- down to the top of its four trunks, about 5ft from ground level -- because a) it was getting huge and b) it was right next to the house and blocking out daylight from our dining-room.
My question is: what do I do with the exposed stump-ends? Is there any point in using a product like Bayer garden arbrex seal (available on amazon) or shall I just leave the stump-ends alone and let nature take its course?
Many thanks for any advice.
PS - I have chopped it back equally hard before and it survived the experience!
