Caring for Echeveria

Hi
I am new to gardening and have realised my echeveria has stretched and needs to be cut and repotted, would it be best to wait until spring to do this? It's currently Autumn where I am and gets quite cool.
I also have it in the lightest room in my house but assuming it has stretched due to not enough light (it is leaning toward the light). Would it be too risky to keep it outside for a while?

You don't say where you are, but if you have frosts, then don't put it outside (or you risk losing it).  I personally wouldn't cut the main stem, now that it's Autumn, maybe better to leave that until Spring.  You can easily root the leaves in water, and it might be worth you trying that with a few of them now, without risking your main plant.

You need to break off the leaf where it joins the main stem.  If you don't get the full leaf from where it joins the main stem, there is less chance of the leaf developing roots.  Once you have one or two leaves that you have broken off, put them in a dish of shallow water, however only the broken edge should be immersed in the water.  Don't put the whole leaf in the water.  Place your dish somewhere bright and sunny and wait a few weeks.  Hopefully you will see some shoots develop, and then you can plant the cuttings into a free-draining compost.

That's interesting @philippasmith2  I didn't think they were that hardy.  I might leave a few outside, just to see if they survive.
