    I recently removed a tree that according to the tree expert was infected with honey fungus and I was worried it had already spread so much.

    The roots of bindweed are very brittle and snap easily which doesn't fit with the 'elastic' description.
    But agree it does look like bindweed root

    I agree with bindweed tho in my garden bindweed roots are curly and white when close to the surface but brown and less stretchy as they go deeper.  It's not the same bindweed that we had in our last garden tho with longer, straighter roots that can go for miles.

    Be careful when digging or forking over you ground to make sure you pick out every bit as the teeniest bit of root will make a new plant.
