When to move roses

Morning everyone.  I have the following two roses in containers which I want to move into the border.  Is it ok to prune and move now?

‘Eyes For You’

‘White Meidiland'

This is the first year for them.

I’m new to roses this year and have found advice on the internet to be a bit conflicting so your advice would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Pruning is better left until sometime between Dec - Feb, so if you could hold off until then, that would be best. You might get away with it now but there’s a risk of encouraging new growth which would get hit by frosts.

You can do some light pruning now - removing up to 1/3 of the upper growth to prevent wind rock in the winter winds which can damage the roots.
But as said above, leave any serious pruning until around Feb or early March.
You can plant them in the ground anytime that the ground isn't frozen or waterlogged.

  • Thank you @Omori and @Pete.8.  I will hold off for a while then .... too impatient as usual 🙄
