Cherry blossom tree question

I’m choosing some new trees, after having others removed. 

You know the fairly common pink cherries with a shortish trunk, and then really wide spreading branches? Is that a type of cherry, or a pruning technique? 
I don’t want a narrow or a weeping variety. 
Online shops often describe and photograph the blossom, but don’t say much about the tree. 
Grateful for recommendations as there are so many to choose from.

    Possibly Kanzan variety.

    They have varying heights and spreads according to the variety. The sites should tell you the ultimate height and spread. Im pretty sure it's not a pruning technique.

    Hmm right. But it could have a 3-4m spread but look like a lollipop, couldn’t it?

    You're welcome, I have grown Kanzan in the past at a previous home and it was a very nice tree. This time around I am growing Shirotae, but that is a white variety.
