Yellow sulphur to make soil acidic?

I have pink hydrangeas abs for the first 2 years I bought and added blue hygmdrangea powder. But if expensive.

I used some yellow Sulphur on my dahlias I’m overwintering and thought acid?? Can I just sprinkle that round my hydrangeas? And turn them blu3

I was at the National Hydrangea Collection, and their experiments with trying to get their hydrangeas to go blue (on slightly limey soil) were not encouraging.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
If you want blue flowers, try planting ceanothus instead.
