  • Morning everyone.
Bit misty here, but its dry.
We had another power cut last night but only 20 minutes this time.
Chive, hope your FIL's move goes smoothly today and he settles in his new home.
Ante, have a good day at school.
Debs, sounds like you had a lovely Sunday too.
    Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning Chive and SGL. I had my shower and then decided that I would risk putting my wet cloths out on the whirligig again - having checked my BBC weather App (which has been known to let me down before!). I might check on my cake to see if the marzipan is firm enough to layer the icing on today but I also want to look up a recipe for C*******s pudding. Smug face here because I finished ALL my cards yesterday!
Good grief! Can my life get any more exciting???

Chive I cannot believe it was last year you told us about your FIL moving to Dorset. How very excited he must be and how lovely that he will be nearer to his sister. I echo SGL's sentiments about the move.

Afternoon everyone. Sunny and dry here but I don't think we'll reach double figures temperature wise.

LB - at the moment my life is nearly as exciting as yours.... Have spent the morning measuring windows trying to decide what we might do with fenestration on the back wall. Not planning to do it over the next couple of months though 🥶 - think we'll wait until spring at least!

OH has been trying to arrange insurance for his new vehicle which we collect next week. That's several hours of his life he won't get back....

Chive - very best wishes for your FIL's move. I hope he is very happy in his new home - Dorset is in my top 3 English counties - it's beautiful. I remember you telling us he was planning to move there but I wondered whereabouts he'll be. I really love the Dorset coast and the hills. As traditionally English as it comes🙂

Well done on getting all your cards done LB. Was going to do mine this afternoon as I thought I had enough left over from last year but just found I have the grand total of SIX cards in the box! Pants! Think I'll be doing an online order to my favourite charities instead...

Afties all. Hello there T'Bird. Are you looking at the possibility of putting an extra window in the back wall or just altering the dimensions of a window already in place? Whichever option it is I think you are wise to wait until Spring. Can't rely on decent weather when having jobs like that done. Bummer about the card situation though.
Rosie, I think it is so nice that you and your Dad get some time together enjoying a walk. I had to resort to bringing in the cloths off the string as it started to rain and they were not drying anyway. BBC Weather App 👎🏼

LB we're looking at replacing the narrow french windows and 2 small half windows in the sitting room with a single, larger 3-pane bifold door. Upstairs windows will just be more efficient units but we also need to make the kitchen / diner french doors and windows look right next to the new sitting room ones.

Thought we knew exactly what we wanted but (as ever) we learned a few things when we had the front of the house done so we're now tweaking those thoughts.

Have decided to have a run out to the garden centre tomorrow in the hope they'll have a nice selection of cards. Couldn't find much I liked online & there wasn't much at the SM the other day.

Funny you talking more about windows T'Bird as I've been looking at my french windows and pondering as to what to do with them. They make up the whole of my front living room 'wall'. I would love to replace them but I would like to have a mirrored finish so that people on the outside can't see in. As it faces out on to the lane it is certainly not private and lockdown has made me realise just how visible I am at times and no, I wasn't walking around naked in my living room - don't want to scare the horses but I have a suspicion that it could cost mega bucks to fit those.

Evening everyone, thank you all for your kind wishes for FIL he is looking forward to the move,
Topbird nice to see you, FIL is moving to Gillingham so will be inland, but a lovely retirement apartment overlooking the river and his sister is close by so perfect for them both. Your Window plans sound exciting nice to do it in the Spring, hope the new car is settling in well,
LB Did you get to do any icing of the Christmas cake today? I do love a rich fruit cake with marzipan and icing yum 😋 yes a large window at the front of the house with a light on is an invitation to others to look in isn’t it,
Rosie I hope you had a nice walk with your dad this afternoon, it was bright her but chilly,
Rubee You must be hardened to those cold temperatures, you know what to expect in the winter and are better prepared no wonder you have spectacular views being high up,
Lily you seem to be getting a lot of power cuts lately, bit of a nuisance if you have to reset clocks each time, hope the day has gone well for you.
    Have a nice evening everyone.
