Hi. I have a 10 year old laurel hedge which appears to be dying or diseased in one section and on one side ( facing the road). The garden side of the hedge is largely unaffected. Is it animal urine damage or disease? Thanks
Looking at the photo, I would say it's more likely Shot-hole disease, a common issue with Laruels. Your shrub is mature, so very unlikely to be affected by this issue. In spring next year, prune back your shrub and ensure you prune out the damaged/distorted looking leaves. Once the weather warms up, they should put on new fresh growth.
Shrubs by paved areas can be short of water, so if there are warm and drought-like conditions, remember to help your shrub with extra watering. A strong shrub will more likely fight off issues like fungal diseases.
