Tree ID Please

This is growing wild in our hedgerows, sorry not much to go on, twiggy, splayed, multi-stemmed habit, not sure of actual height as it’s been victim to successive verge cutting. Leaves turn purple then ruby red. Tiny knobbly seed/fruit just seen in first photo. Any ideas?

    Thanks @fidgetbones, I didn’t know we had it here, but I guess it must be the common dogwood Cornus Sanguinea? It hasn’t been razed to the ground by the verge destroyers this year, so is popping up everywhere.

    Cornus Kousa perhaps?

    Is that dried fruit a dried berry?

    @floralies, be lovely if it was! Kousa is not native tho, so unlikely to be growing wild in the hedgerows. It’s poor alkaline soil as well. I’m not sure @Cambridgerose12, but likely, I will need to observe them next year..

    I think that if you wait until it has shot up next spring, and post a photo of size, colour, habit etc then, a more definitive answer could be found.  The leaves are similar on all cornus. I have three sorts, my C. kousa chinensis is an orange colour at the moment. Another has yellow leaves which will drop for orange stems in the winter. Another has red stems.
