Lack of Sweet Pea seed pods

Last year I grew Sweet Peas for the first time and harvested the seed, which produced an abundance of flowers this year. However, this year, no seed pods. I am wondering why?

They may have dropped, or not formed properly due to weather conditions.

I never save seed - I always buy fresh seed from good suppliers. They tend to cross, and you can never really guarantee quality.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Whilst I agree with Fairygirl about guarantee quality I do collect seeds from our garden and have some amazing results. Our sweet peas this year were from last years seeds and flowered brilliantly and produced abundant pods (some of which I have collected for sowing next year).
Crossing can be interesting but if you are only after one particular colour then as Fairygirl says you need to buy fresh seeds each year.

    I don't like mixed colours @bertrand-mabel. I'm very particular about what I grow   ;)

I only bought white and pink seeds this year. No idea where the  deep purples came from.
