That's nice @edhelka, but that's also a far better solution than most pots, as it's layered more 'front to back' rather than 'top to bottom'    ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

@Fairygirl It's both - 2 layers but yes, the crocuses are planted mostly around the edge. I think that simple layerings like a full layer of tulips and a full layer of daffs don't work well, it's always congested mess. Thinking about the heights and flowering times and organizing the bulbs somehow is the key but even then, sometimes it doesn't work.

I like doing bulb lasagne instead of interest for 3-4 week its more like late March to late May.  Best in large pots where I can mix up , smaller pots I tend to just do two layers and keep it simple. Large pots you can't just move round when they finished flowering. It doesn't always work out how you imaged it just trial and error , some plants don't grow as tall as they say or flower earlier or late but I don't mind I just try something different next year , and if they flower at the same time it can be even better.

Lasagne can get quite expensive as well . Bulbs in pots in there own can look more elegant especially tulips .

    Few example from last Spring

Should of added more Hyathins but you get the idea

    Early April

19th May, tulips didn't get as tall as I hoped but I am still happy with the display

Smallish pot but very crammed in with tulips - muscari - daffs - ranunculus plus more structural plants like heuchera - ivy - pansys and carex. Probably my favourite pot last spring. 11th April

It flowered well into early June with red ranunculus flowering last

A small pot about 25cm across - muscari sky blue and shirley double .

    My favourite from 2019

I hope it give you some ideas or made your mind up not to bother .

Wow! That’s so helpful. I’ve already spent more than I intended, and I can see a few more that I want now.
Carmarthenshire (mild, wet, windy). Loam over shale, very slightly sloping, so free draining. Mildly acidic or neutral.

    You did really well @Perki
  • Lol I’ve planted over 400 bulbs of lasagne all mixed up and I paid no attention to height and flowering time.. I’ve mixed up crocuses, daffodils and tulips.. as I read through the posts I was starting to get worried as I really did cram as many bulbs as I could into each pot but thanks to @Perki I guess not all hope is lost yet..
