New Garden - Plant ID One Of Three

A Friend has moved house and has identified most plants etc in the new garden but we are strugling a little on three of them.  We have ideas but can't be sure.  Here is shrub number one, we think it could be a Laurel, if so which one.  Trying to work out which ones are worth keeping and which one have to go.

  • Griselinia littoralis. Evergreen. can grow huge but also takes pruning well - often used as a hedging plant.
  • I agree because I've got one.

  • Thank you for your help. She has decided to keep this one, hoping it's female but plans on keeping it under control. I'm sure she'll be reading up more about it and learning when to prune and when not to etc.

It's basically privet [hence one of it's common names ] and can be used in exactly the same way. A plant from New Zealand, so very tough.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
