Rose branches going yellow

Does anyone know what causes this?
It is happening to some mature branches, mainly on my Arthur Bells - shrubs and climber.

  • Just natural deterioration, never found it to be an issue. Just trim them off to the base as usually they tend to be weak branches.

Thanks @amancalledgeorge. I've already cut them off but was a bit concerned about a possible underlying problem. You've set my mind at rest😊

  • Let's see if anyone else had issues, but my experience so far it has been just natural wastage.

I agree with @amancalledgeorge, some older canes do just die off, by cutting them to the ground you will hopefully encourage new basal growth as it’s supposed to reinvigorate the rose. Even when they are not dying, some rose specialists recommend pruning back one older cane a year to keep it young and productive.
