Assuming you're in a suitable area for it to survive, plant it in the right spot, with the right conditions,  it should be fine.
If you have frost forecast, it would be better to wait, as that's a no no for planting, although - if you're in an area that gets frosts, it's unlikely to survive anyway.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Mant thanks for this information, no frost forecast so I shall go ahead and plant today 👍
  • My one gave up this year after struggling for about a year and a half to settle in. I think it decided my garden was too cold. :'(

They simply aren't hardy enough in many areas @robairdmacraignil. They're for warm sheltered parts of the country only.  :)

Seems to be the case alright. I was hoping for the best since it got through its first winter OK but it started dropping its leaves a couple of months back and looks completely dead now. In the south of Ireland so definitely not the coldest garden, but it probably likes a warm summer which is a bit rare here. Really liked the red leaf colour when the weather got colder so it is disappointing it did not work. Got a potato vine (Solanum crispum jasminoides), that I propagated from layering an existing one, when I noticed the star jasmine was struggling, already planted next to it as its replacement. :)
