@B3 plastic in teabags and the new phenomenon of coffee bags which also contain plastic why why why why why why why why why why put the plastic in the bags πŸ€” it makes them impossible to recycle and also compost. Loads of people do compost them without realising and then incorporate a load of plastic into their gardens, it's just bad 😠😠😠😠😠😠😠

I don't drink tea or coffee. Just think hot drinks are medicinal so I don't have that problem.Β  I suppose if you want cheap plants, they have to come off a production line. I'd rather pay a little more.

Allwoods, a high quality, family run nursery specialising in carnations state categorically that the net container should not be removed and if you have the temerity to do so then the guarantee will be invalidated. Well I’m a devil-may-care sort; I took them off and hang the consequences.

Because they have to stand up to being dunked in boiling water without falling apart. I believe they're trying to get them to a stage where they do that job, but will still break down.Β
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Can they make the bags out of tea or coffee dust?

Yes, they're working on it. This company says their new bags will be industrially compostable, but I guess a hot domestic heap might do the trick.
The other solution is to use loose-leaf tea.

I'm not a tea/coffee drinker, but why the sudden need for coffee bags?

Does this look like the kind of thing we're talking about? The roots of this pomegranate plant do seem to be getting through though.
