    Are you on an island further north/west? I have a very windy garden too, but strawberries certainly aren't affected, even if other plants often are. 

    I am just outside Edinburgh.  When it is windy in Edinburgh,  add another 10/15 miles to the windspeed where I am, ha ha.

    The strawberries should appear along the runners and dangle over the edge, hoping it will prevent slugs gaining access. I will find out next year.

    I doubt it's any windier than where I am.   ;)
    There's no gain in being over protective with strawberries - it just makes for soft plants/growth, which is then more susceptible to pests and diseases.
    Just make sure there isn't any 'bridge' for them to cross. It's surprising what they can do  :D
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
