Tomato plant live or let die?

So this was my first year of growing veg & my tomato plant has produced its last feast for the year, can anyone tell me what I do with the plant now, do i discard it or prune it down till next year & if so, how do i go about pruning it?
Thanks

Time for the compost bin I'm afraid :(
They'll die soon as we get a frost or chilly weather.

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

They're usually treated as annuals ... put it on the compost heap and start again from seed in mid April  :)

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
