Acer - anything to be worried about?

Hi everyone. We bought an acer in the summer and the tips of the leaves have started to turn brown/yellow and curl up. See photo I’ve attached.

It’s in a pot, south facing and temperature has been standard for Hampshire recently.

Any ideas what’s happening and how I can revive it?

Many thanks,

E

That's absolutely normal for the time of year, given that it's a deciduous tree so its leaves will fall very soon anyway.   :)  It looks as if it might not be in the ideal spot - dissected-leaf maples need shade and shelter from wind to be at their best.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

South facing in a pot isn't an ideal site, although the dark ones need some sun to show off at their best.
Wind fries them. Wind and sun even more so. They're woodland plants.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thanks for the heads up, I will try and re-site.

It won't prevent new healthy growth in spring, but a more suitable site will help for later next year  :)
