Is this a cherry plum?

Have recently moved to a house with a well established garden, and originally thought this might be a Mirabelle, except that the colour has changed from green/yellow to this. The flesh is yellow/orange and the fruits themselves are on very short stems. Although it's October and a lot of the fruit has fallen, a fair proportion of what's left is still not particularly ripe. Any help in identification would be most gratefully received!

Cherry plum fruit is smaller and more oval shaped. Mine are always purple and don't change colour. It is one of the first to flower in spring and fruits early, mid-July. Most of the fruit is gone by August, gobbled up by woodpigeons and blackbirds here.
