One of the bugles  - Ajuga.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thank you, I will check it out and see what to do  ;)

This is what we’ve done with a couple of ajugas.

Two smallish plants planted into a trug earlier this year.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • They look lovely 👍🏻
Thank you for you reply 😀

A lovely wild plant which is native to the UK and good for ground cover in shady bits of the garden.  Several cultivated varieties are available.

I've used the common one to fill all the little gaps around my pond when I altered it this year. Grows in almost any conditions too.
It can be a bit invasive, but also very easy to pull out if it gets ideas of world domination.
The cultivated varieties are better behaved though  ;)

Hmm, not sure about Ajuga.  How about Mimulus guttatus?
    East Anglia
  • That looks interesting too 😉
