Do Tomato seeds actually need to soak before storage?

  • Regarding the seeds that were stuck on greaesproof paper; after scraping a few off they looked so small and shriveled that I tried an experiment and sowed a few in a tiny pot. To my surprise they came up yesterday!

    Now you have a dilemma. Do you grow them on, with all the effort and expense, or do you forget them  ;)

  • No I won't bother. As I said, it was just an experiment, and I cannot give them sufficient light let alone sunshine to carry them on until next year. I don't even have a greenhouse.

    Yes - it's not really worth the effort - or the compost! I doubt it means having a crop much earlier anyway, although I expect some folk have tried it.
    The expense of doing it if you have to heat somewhere etc, seems counter productive too.  :)
