Anemone's sprouting

Hi there,

Planted some anemone bulbs a few weeks ago and they're already sprouting, is this unusual as I planted them 3 times the depth of the height of the bulb.

Not sure if I should be worried, happy to protect them in the greenhouse over winter if needs be.

    What kind of anemones?
It isn't unusual for bulbs to sprout, if conditions suit, and then they slow down as temps cool etc, ready to flower at the appropriate time  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • De Caen 'mr Fokker' - as you can probably guess I bought them for the funny name 😅 should I be protecting them then or are they as hardy as Japanese? I don't usually grow them haha

Mine come up very quickly too. They flowered for several weeks. I'm sure yours will be fine 🙂

They aren't quite the same as the Jap anemones. They need a sunnier site with decent, free draining soil, but most are hardy.  :)
